Glass

Studio glass or glass sculpture is the modern use of glass as an artistic medium to produce sculptures or three-dimensional artworks. Specific approaches include working glass at room temperature cold working, stained glass, working glass in a torch flame (lampworking), glass beadmaking, glass casting, glass fusing, and, most notably, glass blowing.

British Glass Art owes much to the long history of craft. The majority of its glass blowers who operate small studio furnaces produce aesthetically beautiful though primarily functional objects. Technical skill as a blower is given as much importance as the artistic intent.

Glass artists Ed Burke and Margaret Burke discovered their passion for blown glass when they were both in their teens. Since then they have brought an aproach to fine glass making which has created a perfect symbiosis of colour, pattern and shape. There mobile Glassblowing studio and demonstrations at Living Heritage gives you a unique insight in to the proccess of blown glass.

If you have ever visited "Glass With Care" at one of the many major craft shows we do over the course of each year, you will recognise this - our stall. Here we try to display all our current range of painted glass goods, from vases to glasses, table sets, chandeliers & many types of candle holder, each one painted with the same care & attention to detail & quality. Glass With Care's aims are to provide people with good quality glassware, predominantly hand cast, which have been hand painted by ourselves using high quality glass paints. This means that all the items you see are not only decorative in themselves, but are practical & useful.

The designs we use are traditional - our trademark design being the ivy leaf. So whatever you choose, it will still look as good in years to come as it does today. The natural colours mean that most items will compliment any interior, no matter what the decor. And with all our pieces you can be sure that you will have something that will look & feel beautiful for years to come.
